The Nomad

In the torrential rain I found this weary traveller in a puddle. With all his worldly goods on his back he could go no where quickly and I feared he would drown.

I scooped him up, after asking politely of course, and transferred him to the loving embrace and shelter of Buddha.

Imagine my surprise when an hour later his wise old face appeared at my door.

Whether he came to offer thanks, was simply passing by, or is now my guardian until the life debt is repaid… We shall have to wait and see.

UPDATE!

I have now been visited also by a three legged cat (excuse the photo quality)

Guys! I think this is the start of a quest!

Let it wander or rein it in?

My last story wandered onto an entirely different track than I had intended for it when I first sat down to write. It went that way when I realised that my MC was a bit of a jerk and I found myself writing him as contributing to his unfortunate circumstances. My query is, should I have let the story tell itself or should I have tried to pull it back and force it in the direction I originally intended?

In fairness, I found I had managed to surprise myself with something a little different in doing it this way, but could I have done better if I stuck with the original idea?

I will probably never know because now, Jim is out there and I cannot unmake him.

Why not?

It’s been years since I blogged, and longer than that since I wrote anything that wasn’t a work email or legal document. It’s boring and my brain is drowning in lost imaginings. I should let them out. I should find some joy in writing.

It might not be good and it might not be publishable anywhere except the vast and anonymous internet, but it will be mine.
